IRA vs British Army - Major gun battles all over Belfast, Internment 9 - 11 August 1971 Between the 9 - 11 August the British Army began locking people up without trial, this started major rioting; gun battles not seen in Ireland since 1921.

21 people were killed over the 2 days, 17 of them civilians, 2 IRA & British Army, plenty more were injured on all sides. The effects of Internment without trial in 1971 are still being felt in Ireland in 2019

An IRA bomb went off in Leicester (England) in 1990, nobody was injured but it woke up our cat 3 miles away, so if ever I meet an IRA paddy I'd like to ask him what our cat had done to upset him.
