The Auburn Police Department is releasing video footage from the officers body worn camera regarding this arrest to illustrate to citizens how an officer can be put in danger within seconds. As an example in this situation, the officer was attempting to place the male subject in the back of the patrol car because the subject had slipped his handcuffs from the rear to the front and was showing signs of being uncooperative.
When the officer explained to the subject that he was going to be placed in the back of the police car, the subject suddenly attacked the officer and attempted to grab for the officers firearm and taser. The officer was able to wrestle the subject to the ground and hold him in place until other officers arrived on scene, and assisted in getting the subject under full control.
We are also attaching a photograph of the officers pistol magazine lying on the ground. The pistol magazine had been previously on the officers belt prior to the attack and was removed by the subject in his attempts to grab the officers taser.
The Auburn Police Department is proud of its employees for the job they do, which as this video shows, can be dangerous.
