Man killed in officer-involved shooting was holding people at gunpoint. The Louisville Metro Police Department has released new details regarding a fatal officer-involved shooting in the Parkland neighborhood.
LMPD Chief Steve Conrad said officers responded to a domestic situation at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 2600 block of Greenwood Avenue.
Officials said when they arrived, they heard an altercation. They then approached the home to find Anthony Wayne French Sr. in the doorway holding a semi-automatic handgun, police said.
Investigators said French pointed his weapon at officers as he was told to drop it, prompting two officers to fire multiple rounds.
Those officers have been identified as Lenert Elzy and Carlyn Alexander. French was transported to University Hospital, where he later died, police said.
According to LMPD, prior to their arrival, French had been holding two adults at gunpoint in the home, and had beaten them.
Those people were transported to a hospital and are expected to survive.
